This year the MNASZ National Rally Championship will also visit Győr, where the 1st edition of Győr Rally will take place between 8-10 September 2023, bringing together the best of Hungarian rallying. The event will be supported by the Mayor of Győr, Széchenyi István University and HUMDA Hungarian Mobility Development Agency in cooperation with Arrabona Rally Club, Mitko Hungary and TRP Hungary.

A new feature of the MNASZ National Rally Championship this year will be the 1st edition of Győr Rally, which will take place from 8-10 September 2023. The competition will be a round of the ORB, ORB2, ORB3 and Historic championships and the cars that will be allowed to compete will be those that comply with the rules of these championships and the drivers have the appropriate licence.

The Győr Rally is scheduled to be the penultimate round of the season, one month before the Rally Hungary, the local round of the FIA European Rally Championship. Both events will be organised in cooperation between Mitko Hungary and TRP Hungary with the Arrabona Rally Club taking on the organisational tasks in Győr.

In addition to the local association, the Mayor of the City of Győr, Széchenyi István University and HUMDA Hungarian Mobility Development Agency also support the organisation of the competition, which, in addition to extending Győr’s role in the automotive industry to the world of sport, contributes to the promotion of Hungarian engineering education, the development of road safety and the promotion of tourism.

‘In Győr, the Eastern European capital of vehicle manufacturing, motor sport is also very popular, so we are delighted that the best of Hungarian rallying will be competing here this autumn,’ said dr. Csaba András Dézsi, Mayor of Győr.

‘I am also delighted to welcome the Győr event in the autumn because of the motorisation, state of the art mobility and the sense of togetherness of the rallyers, the tourism and landscape values they bring to the city. I am sure that in a city where thousands of people earn their living in the automotive industry, this colourful and spectacular event will be a great professional, sporting and public success, as the preliminary programme shows.’

Győr to host the best of Hungarian rallying for three days 

Győr Rally will start with the administrative checks on 8 September 2023, followed by a reconnaissance, during which the crews will drive their road cars around the stages. The recce will also take place on Friday, when the scrutineering of the cars will be carried out. The official programme of the Győr Rally begins on Friday evening with the starting ceremony and on Saturday and Sunday the competitors will complete various stages, including in downtown of Győr. The event will conclude on Sunday with the finish ceremony and the prize-giving ceremony.

Based on the experience of similar races successfully held in Zalaegerszeg and Nyíregyháza, tens of thousands of fans are expected to show up along the downtown stage which will contribute to the national exposure of Győr and Győr-Moson-Sopron County and the region’s prominent presence in the national media.
